Re: New XMRV Studies Bring Closure—and Fresh Dispute

Yeah, a lot of coverage of the Lipkin results streaming about over the last six days. Actually, almost as much attention was directed at the live announcement of the key study findings as the findings themselves, as that Columbia U hosted event included Drs. Mikovitz and Alter and Ruscetti sitting a...

Re: Maintaining IgM Antibodies for Years, Poor Prognosis in

I have several difficulties with current diagnostic guidelines for late stage Lyme (which I think we are talking about when we discuss positive findings over a sustained period, regardless of whether they are IgM or IgG's). Three rise to the top, but I've others: 1) I suspect most clinicians will no...

Re: Maintaining IgM Antibodies for Years, Poor Prognosis in

I think the reality is clinicians DO make judgements based in the CDC's two-tiered approach, which embrace high IgG values as a diagnostic tool. Sorry, not trying to bench Claudia's concerns with her son, but if the support for IgG values as a metric are confusing, then that may also be pertinent to...

Claudia, I share these very same questions. How do clinicians decide, based on IgG values, if an infection is active or not?

Re: One-year follow-up of tick-borne central nervous system

Seems to me something almost simplistic nags at early diagnostic criteria developed for Bb. That also holds true for the interpretation of various degrees of gravity affixed to reported symptoms, IMO. "If I can't see it, it can't be that important" might have been an apparent tenet embraced by early...

Re: An Immune Disorder at the Root of Autism

Great series of articles. There is a lot of discontent in some circles within the Autism community these days with the direction research has taken. As I come up to speed with how to migrate articles and stuff, I will try to post more, as I think this is a highly relevant area, and there are many pa...
