Re: Ceftriaxone Pulse Dosing Fails to Eradicate Biofilm-Like Bb Persisters

Forget about me, Henry. You obsess about me, and it distracts. (It's a wee bit disconcerting, too.) In theory, when people with confirmed late stage Lyme receive treatment, and their symptoms don't improve, what is the explanation - in particular, when symptoms persist unabated many years after infe...

Re: Ceftriaxone Pulse Dosing Fails to Eradicate Biofilm-Like Bb Persisters

What other possibilities? I keep asking you about late stage Lyme, and you keep dancing around it. The best you have to offer is "their symptoms are due to something else"? We do agree there is not much hope for all the sufferers of late stage Lyme who are failed by out-dated IDSA-recommended therap...

Re: Ceftriaxone Pulse Dosing Fails to Eradicate Biofilm-Like Bb Persisters

"Most likely"? :D There is an entire Lyme school of thought that would be delighted to differ on this wording. Lots of patients, too. I was referring to late stage Lyme disease, Henry. If after treatment, people infected with Lyme don't get better, what is causing their symptoms? If it is not an abr...

Re: Ceftriaxone Pulse Dosing Fails to Eradicate Biofilm-Like Bb Persisters

Henry, maybe you can forward this Johns Hopkins article to Bockenstedt. So, let me see if I understand this disrupted immune system hypothesis in the context of this study. Studies like this, and from the likes of Lewis and Embers, suggest front-line abx may not eradicate Bb. So, IDSA-recommended th...

Re: Review: Low-quality of Clinical Evidence Exists when Comparing Antibiotics for the Treatment of LNB

My hopes are pretty much dashed after reading THIS literature. :D

Does "high-quality search strategy" sound right? Is it even a thing? Is it along the lines of high-quality merchandise or high-quality hooch from old gangster films?

Re: Ceftriaxone Pulse Dosing Fails to Eradicate Biofilm-Like Bb Persisters

No, my statement does not mean that all of that 20% portion are necessarily suffering from continued Lyme. I happen to lean that way, but perhaps it's that corrupted immune response we touched upon earlier that was initially wrought by Bb (which had since been eradicated). The point is, I don't fois...

Re: Ceftriaxone Pulse Dosing Fails to Eradicate Biofilm-Like Bb Persisters

Well, technically, there remains the outstanding issue of - according to common estimates of 5%-20% - upwards of 60,000 patients who are left with persistent symptoms, after recommended treatment, each and every year, in the US alone. So, after 35 years, how many sick patients does that potentially ...

Re: Ceftriaxone Pulse Dosing Fails to Eradicate Biofilm-Like Bb Persisters

Wouldn't you agree that another "excellent way to determine whether the results of evidence-based research merit wide acceptance in the scientific community" is to see how that research stacks up in real-world situations? Within the broader medical community, I would suggest to you that could - and ...

Re: Ceftriaxone Pulse Dosing Fails to Eradicate Biofilm-Like Bb Persisters

So, quantity = quality?

Stan Lee wrote MANY, MANY comic books. Some might caution, however, about comparing all those comic books to the relatively few, seminal writings of Hemingway.

Re: Ceftriaxone Pulse Dosing Fails to Eradicate Biofilm-Like Bb Persisters

Relative to two generations of active and productive researchers: Another common but serious phenomenon in modern society is wrongfully equating tenure or longevity or production with excellence or innovative or even meaningful thought. It is important to be able to distinguish propaganda from progr...
