All bacteria have phage that attack them. A gummy biofilm with numerous blebs as decoys (as shown in the labs) would be a good way to stop them getting at the spirochete cells. Would it be logical that some of the blebs are decoys to fool phage to attack the bleb instead of the borrelia? Borrelia living in a biofilm on a heart valve or on the wall of a blood vessel or on a vein valve must be a wide open target for phages flowing past in the blood. So they would need many d...
