Re: Inadequacy of IgM Antibody Tests for Diagnosis of RMSF
If they are saying in fact that these IgM positives without IgG are false, then that is exactly what is being said about lyme and it is wrong. They better not be saying these people are false positive with only IgM if they might die fast from the disease. I am really tired of testing being elevated ...

Re: Elite Male Biologists Don't Hire Women
What puzzles me is why there is such an imbalance in other STEM fields. Molecular biology is easily as difficult to learn as engineering, so why would there be more female biologists overall than female engineers?

Re: Advanced Labs validity? / No reaction to treatment.
I think it would depend on what antibiotics you were given and what coinfections you have. Bacteriostatic drugs might not produce a herx. It is also said that drugs with dissimilar action are needed in a combination. Frequently flagyl or tinidazole are included to handle the cysts that develop and a...

Re: FDA Considering Regulating Laboratory Developed Tests
I've already told you more than I know. Joke. Actually this is second or third hand information, and I can't explain it further. Just hope it is correct and this effort doesn't get side tracked into some destructive path. It is the only thing that makes any sense considering the names of the legisla...

Re: FDA Considering Regulating Laboratory Developed Tests
Supposedly the goal of this is to provide guidance so that critics of new tests will not be able to kill them out of pure malice. Unless I am misunderstanding this, it would not require that all tests be FDA approved. Feel free to correct me if this is wrong.

Don't know how many of us will volunteer for a brain biopsy, Naomi. Count me out.
Seems like other types of testing and history would provide evidence enough to treat, and the response to treatment would tell you enough without any brain biopsies of living people.

Very interesting post, Lorima. And I didn't know Steere's father was a lobbyist. Some lobbyists are motivated by sincere beliefs, more are motivated by money and will push anything that pays well. I would say that refusing to allow better lyme testing and acknowledge chronic disease has paid well fo...

Re: CDC Persistence Webinar Transcripts and Slides Available
It comes down to the usual choice with people like Marques: are they just stupid, or are they liars? When I started down the lyme road more than 15 years ago (so much for the 2 year warranty), I leaned toward stupid, now I am more inclined to the lying explanation for their behavior. Marques has see...

Still has a way to go before it becomes law and the clock is about to run out on this.
