Re: Clarithromycin in vitro activity enhanced by its metabolite

An interesting find in the studie below is that 14-hydroxy-clarithromycin was less negatively effected by a lower pH than other macrolides. J Antimicrob Chemother. 1994 Dec;34(6):1025-9. Additive effect of clarithromycin combined with 14-hydroxy clarithromycin, erythromycin, amoxycillin, metronidazo...

Free full text: http://aac.asm.org/cgi/reprint/40/2/468.pdf Quote from the full text: Unlike azithromycin, which is rapidly cleared from the extracellular compartments, and beta-lactams, which do not effectively enter the intracellular compartment, clarithromycin has the ability to achieve and maint...

Re: clarithromycin vs. roxithromycin?

Well I have been trying roxithromycin for some days now and it seems to cause even worse anxiety than clarithromycin though I have been taking minimal doses. So I guess it might cross the bbb better than clarithromycin. The problem is, this anxiety is just too much to take and I think I wont be abl...

Re: Rocephin does not work against Borreliae in the chronic form

Can anyone tell me if the word "chronic" is defined in this article? I believe not. I am not sure if with "chronischen Verlaufsform" is meant a chronic form of Borreliae (e.g. L-form or non/slow-dividing stage of Bb?) or chronic Lyme disease. Anyway, it's true that Rocephin can't kill intracellular...

Rocephin does not work against Borreliae in the chronic form

German doctor and researcher Martin Sievers says: "Rocephin hat keine Wirkung gegen Borrelien in der chronischen Verlaufsform und wirkt nicht gegen die zystischen und intrazellulären Formen der Borrelien." Translation: "Rocephin does not work against Borreliae in its chronic form and does not work a...
