Re: Strain diversity of Lymeborreliosis species

one of the problems with Borrelia is that what you put into an organism is not the same (on the genetic and antigenic level) as what comes out after a few generations. This applies to some of the outer proteins like OSPC and Vlse, but probably also to other parts of the genetic makeup. This is a maj...

Re: First Record of Lyme Disease Borrelia in the Arctic

I don't know--- are the Faeroe Islands in the Arctic? halfway between England and Iceland; so they are on an important Arctic migratory route but not in the official Arctic. The finding of seropositive Faeroe Islanders who are regularly exposed to I. uriae indicate that there may be a transfer of B...

Re: Video-microscopy and pictures of Borrelia burgdorferi

just in case: minx from the Dutch forum has made similar blood videos from some lymies (including me). Some people from the lab/medical community are now looking into the results, although I think this interest should be labeled 'unofficial' at the moment. Even with a normal optical microscope you c...

Re: Rocephin does not work against Borreliae in the chronic form

Nick, I'd like to hear more about testing, if you would. Are you a laboratorian? no sorry ... I'm a biochemist, but only by education. I'm no longer working in the field, I now have a company related to computers and imaging (currently 95% inoperative because of lyme). But I think I have enough exp...

Re: "Miracle" Mineral Supplement: chlorine dioxide ion (CLO2)

and obviously when the message starts with the classic SCAM intro like this, one should double check every reference; I see claims like these on a daily basis (including sometimes in the more or less official medical channels) and it always turns out to be false or extremely exaggerated. I read some...

Re: Rocephin does not work against Borreliae in the chronic form

This makes me wonder several things: -Have other researchers taken this into account? probably not considered in all vitro experiments ... -Does this not count for the cystic form? (in the Brorsons study MZ (and also TZ) was capable of killing cystic forms) maybe they use a different cell line or g...

Re: Is there really a cell wall deficient form of Borrelia?

I agree there is a lot of confusing terminology, researchers use the cyst word for very different forms. Some of the cyst forms that are described seem to lack spirochete features like the internal flagella. Some 'cyst' forms may be nothing more than artefacts caused by external conditions that dist...

Re: Rocephin does not work against Borreliae in the chronic form

I'm not sure, but I believe they only mention that Metronidazol gives poor activity against the spirochete form of Bb, while Plaquenil gives good activity against both forms of Bb. This makes me wonder about the activity of Metronidazol against the cystic form of Bb in this study. They mention that...

Re: Rocephin does not work against Borreliae in the chronic form

although interesting work, there are some important limitations to the research from Sievers, e.g.: 1. in vitro cells do not include the human immune system, only a small part of it. Because of this, it is dangerous to make assumptions about in vivo action of substances like cat's claw or certain an...
