Re: Duration of antibiotic treatment in disseminated Lyme...2007

Nick, if I may ask: what exactly is your definition of an open mind? You must consider this very important variable: if these people don't verify their findings with tests the CDC recognizes (they also use PCR and have practiced a number of necropsies with the sole intention of finding spirochetes i...

Re: Co-Infection Lab Test

Unfortunately that lab appears to be very limited in the strains of co-infection tests it offers. I must also ask: where did this lab come from, all of a sudden? One day everyone is raving about Igenex, and now suddenly it's all about Fry Labs. And whatever happened to Bowen/Central Florida Research...

Re: Randomized, placebo-controlled trial of repeated IV ABX

Unfortunately there may be some cases of tertiary Lyme, although the IDSA would probably never recognize it. If tertiary Lyme does exist in some cases, however, those patients would need to find a way of controlling their symptoms rather than eliminating their cause, the battle against the bacteria ...

I've read that, too, Martin. I saw in it one of the Oksi et al. papers.

Re: Antibiotic treatment of Lyme disease: what is the evidence?

Wow ... I would be willing to bet that there are a number of Borrelia species both in America and in Europe that have not yet been isolated or classified as the threat they truly are. The one piece of evidence that Borrelia garinii is not clearly present in the States, however, is the general lack o...

Re: Duration of antibiotic treatment in disseminated Lyme...2007

Oksi and others involved in this study are, in my opinion, very unbiased in their Lyme research; without them we wouldn't have many of the studies we do have on post-treatment spirochete persistence. It seems to me that this article backs up the notion that, as many of us as there are out there, chr...

Re: ILADS Elects Daniel Cameron, MD as new President!!!

I believe Dr. Cameron is simply more conservative about treating co-infections, which I think is a good stance. From everything I've read, and from personal experience, it is my impression that many LLMDs over-treat for most co-infections. I hope Dr. Cameron is able to take ILADS to the next level o...
