Re: False and Misleading Information about Lyme Disease.

Duncan, Duncan, Duncan. Not unique? How many patients do you know that were not tested and treated for at least 6 years or more after exposure to tick bite, especially in an endemic area? Hardly a common occurrence I would imagine. Still, the "evidence" you present is circumstantial. You have a way ...

Re: False and Misleading Information about Lyme Disease.

The criticisms that you (Duncan) raise in paragraph #1 can just as well be applied to the example you gave in paragraph #2. There is no reason to believe that the case described in paragraph #2 is at all typical of what some believe to be characteristic of "chronic Lyme disease", however one chooses...

Re: False and Misleading Information about Lyme Disease.

There are not many reports describing the natural history of Lyme disease in untreated patients. However, this one is very revealing: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/21173795 . In this case, the patient was cured by the recommended regimen of oral antibiotics (doxycycline) after being untreated ...

Re: False and Misleading Information about Lyme Disease.

I am not going to waste my time giving a point-by-point response to your circular arguments, most if not all of which I have addressed in previous postings that you can go back to read if you wish. Suffice it to say that you have no laboratory or clinical evidence -- let's call them "facts" if you w...

Re: False and Misleading Information about Lyme Disease.

Lyme disease has been defined historically as a tick-borne infection, which in the U.S., is cause by the spirochete Borrelia burgdorferi sensu stricto . Although this bacterium is difficult to isolate from humans during infection, antibodies specific for Borrelia develop during the course of infecti...

Re: False and Misleading Information about Lyme Disease.

Read the last sentence of the article. I believe the authors may be referring to people like you. I hardly find such a statement to be "denigrating" the patient experience. In view of your own experiences, don't you think it is time to consider other possibilities?

Re: False and Misleading Information about Lyme Disease.

Read the last paragraph of the article and then explain to me why it makes sense to treat someone for Lyme disease -- in many cases for long periods of time at great expense using unproven approaches that may even not be safe--when there is no objective evidence to support a diagnosis of Lyme diseas...
