Is it possible to find (and culture) borrelia bacteria after treatment?

The answer to that question is: Yes!

A google translated quote from the Swedish recomendations (background documentation) above.

Professor Dag Nyman:
Erythema migrans, which is readily observable early manifestation of borreliosis, is considered to be easy to deal with a good prognosis. After treatment, borrelia DNA can be detected in the skin for several months after treatment has been inserted, and in 1-3% of cases, borrelia bacteria can be grown from skin biopsies taken from erythema area (8).

Borrelia burgdorferi detected by culture and PCR in clinical relapse of disseminated Lyme borreliosis.

A quote:
We conclude that the treatment of Lyme borreliosis with appropriate antibiotics for even more than 3 months may not always eradicate the spirochete.
