In Sweden they admit that persistent borreliosis (i.e. an active borreliosis after treatment) and relapses exists.

Sources: The Swedish recommendations for borreliosis [1, 2] and professor Björn Olsen at CVI [3].

In Sweden they also admit that a person can be infected with and need treatment for more than one tick-borne diseases.

I e-mailed professor Björn Olsen at CVI (Center for vector-borne infections) the following question:
Do you know of any Swedish cases who have been diagnosed with and treated for two simultaneous tick-borne diseases?
He replied (by e-mail, August 16, 2016):
yes

sincerely
