Santa Cruz County Mosquito and Vector Control is advising people going outdoors to be vigilant for ticks, because some of them may carry the bacteria that can cause Lyme disease or other tick-borne illnesses.

While more than half of Lyme disease cases are contracted during spring and early summer, ticks can be encountered in winter as well.

I brought home my tick in the winter, so this article really jumped out at me. It is important that people know they can catch Lyme and cos any time of the year, especially in warmer climates.
