Semi-literate hillbilly attacks ALDF

Kind of an odd way to spend the day after Christmas: pounding out a rant about the ALDF and its website. Don’t Lymees have better things to do? Oh, right. This rant is odd, but one of the truly saddest things during the holidays is finding posts on LymeNet dated early on 12/25. At least this poor nut waited 24 hours before letting loose with her bit of rambling. Why the ALDF? Why now? Maybe she had a problem with end-of-the-year prescription orders. (I guess even CVS closes on the holidays.)

Lucy Barnes—the director (and only member) of a fictitious Lyme group in Maryland—has appeared as a topic on this board a few times (http://www.lymeneteurope.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2751). Back in 2011, this well-known mouthpiece of the Lyme Movement wrote on LymeNet:

“My biggest hope now is they don't discover any more diseases because so far my luck isn't running too good. Positive Tests: Lyme, RMSF, Babesia microti, Babesia duncani, Anaplasmosis, Ehrlichiosis HE, Ehrlichiosis HME, Bartonella henselae, Bartonella Quintana, Bartonella elizabethae, Histoplasmosis, Parvo B-19, Epstein Barr Virus. My bet is people with chronic Lyme have even more infections we don't know about yet. We are finding salmonella and also trichinosis in a number of patients in this state. Go figure.”

Yeah, go figure.

I wonder what she’ll write for New Years?

Hmm, that is odd. Usually it's extremely literate, well-educated people who attack the ALDF.

That the same group that doesn't believe in vaccines, spends billions on 'alternative medicine' and supplements, and thinks just maybe the moon landing was faked?

What an odd mix. Though I think I have seen those things put together before, so I guess it's a meme, or part of an ideology. Maybe from the so-called Skeptics? Don't you want to add homeopathy and Big Foot to your list? ;)

It's not too late to clean up and refine your mental file drawers and processes. (Although it would require introspection and growth, which takes quite a bit of time and effort.) The payoff is big: you will get closer to perceiving reality, and you'll find that life is more interesting and more fun when you learn to turn away thoughts based on stereotypes, and focus on close observation and experience, rather than promoting a pre-fabricated ideology.

My family patients are mostly recovered from late-diagnosed LD, though one of them has to retreat a few times a year to stay healthy.
So my interest in the subject is a little more abstract than that of those who are still suffering. The LD field is a fascinating example of pathological science. I do appreciate you and Henry exposing your thinking and emotions to the light of day here. It's been really helpful to me in understanding how this happened. Thanks!

Well, I didn't bother to read that ALDF criticism, as it is surely right. But if there were any grammar mistakes, then this results from the effects of a brain infection.

There are other reasons besides brain infection for the nasty trolls on this website. There was an interesting article recently about how to identify a psychopath. Want to volunteer HV to see how well the test works?
