John Oliver clip. Best summary I've seen of our worst problem. And funny, which is the only way I can look at this situation and not get depressed.

Yes, I guess that's part of it. Free-floating anger. Looks to me like they are cutting off their noses to spite their faces. (Are there European equivalents for that phrase?)

It's funny how authoritarians can think of themselves as rebels.

And how they can think that by directly voting for a creator of sleazy corporations, they are somehow voting against sleazy corporations' power over the American government. Makes no sense at all, to me.

Martian, you were explaining, not supporting, right?

If you are a passionate supporter of DT, I guess I should avoid discussing American politics here, out of respect for your role as host of this excellent, intelligent web site.

I like how Trump is pushing the establishment's buttons and how the establishment is now in panic mode and making fools of themselves.

Thanks for explaining.

Here's an explanation of the idiom in English I used above:
"Cutting off the nose to spite the face"

from Wikipedia:

An expression used to describe a needlessly self-destructive over-reaction to a problem: "Don't cut off your nose to spite your face" is a warning against acting out of pique, or against pursuing revenge in a way that would damage oneself more than the object of one's anger.
My use of this phrase assumes that a problematic American president causes problems for everyone, including his supporters...and not just Americans.

So, if not Donald Trump, who should be the next president of the United States?

"I call this shade veiled white supremacy"

Until we have campaign finance reform, politics in the US will continue to be bought.

Interesting debate last night between Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders in Flint, Michigan. It was a substantive debate between two experienced well-informed candidates.

A lot of people want that to change, and a lot of people have concerns that they feel are not addressed by the establishment. I think that explains the popularity of Sanders and Trump. I think comparing Trump and his supporters with Nazis and the KKK will only increase his support.
