Commercial serological tests in Europe, info please!

Post by NellyP » Sun 20 Mar 2011 18:07

Does anyone know for certain what the most often commercially used serological tests (ELISA or WB) use as antigens?
This is what one lab claims to be using:

"Antigens: extract of Borrelia burgdorferi sensu stricto, Borrelia garinii and Borrelia afzelii (whole antigen) / recombinant VlsE from Borrelia burgdorferi sensu stricto. VlsE (variable major protein-like sequence, expressed) is a newly characterized surface protein of Borrelia which is expressed exclusively in vivo and which contains conserved and highly immunogenic epitopes."

I need to know if such combos are commonly used in Europe.

In fcat ANY info on the antigens used in commercial tests in Europe welcome.

Also what do people think of the actual interpretation criteria actually used by commercial labs when different strains are used (Pko-azfelii, Pbi-garinii etc) re number of bands in WB for a test to be declared positive?
