Re: Guidelines for Diagnosis and Treatment German Borreliosi
Is the answer from Spanky (in his latest post) also for Rita and Chuck?

Henry left the board, hon.
Do you have any idea why?

Re: Guidelines for Diagnosis and Treatment German Borreliosi
Can we stick to what this topic is about instead, Spanky?

You mean, THIS?
Hmmmm...do you suppose that this had anything to do with why Henry quit?
And why I am, also?

You mean, THIS?
That's ALWAYS the topic, isn't it?I have said it before (to admin and in many places in this forum), studies on late (stage 3) Lyme borreliosis, have to been done on cases with late Lyme borreliosis. It doesn't matter where in the body the (late, disseminated) infection is located. At least that is what I understand when I read information, studies or guidelines from more skilled European experts.
And then, studies have to be done on those cases (that already had late Lyme borreliosis when the first treatment was given) that are not cured with the treatment.
Hmmmm...do you suppose that this had anything to do with why Henry quit?
And why I am, also?
Re: Guidelines for Diagnosis and Treatment German Borreliosi
Carina, I think this paucity of reliable data for late stage Lyme is one of the problems inherent with the current two-tier testing system, at least in the U.S.
Re: Guidelines for Diagnosis and Treatment German Borreliosi
Yes, Duncan that is a problem in US, but it is possible (if someone wants to do a study on cases with late Lyme disease or late persistent Lyme disease) to use other tests.
In the German study/summary below they used PCR:
"Prolonged antibiotic therapy in PCR confirmed persistent Lyme disease"

But I understand that it is easier when it comes to the most common form of late European Lyme, where ACA (acrodermatitis) can be one of the symptoms. We examined a sample of 90 individuals that had previously received a course of appropriate antibiotics for Lyme disease without experiencing full resolution of their symptoms and had evidence of persistent infection documented by PCR analysis.

It's an e-book that is available for $16.99 USD.
Repeating it doesn't improve it.
I plugged a portion of that link into the search engine here and came up with 16 quotes...almost all from the same poster."Prolonged antibiotic therapy in PCR confirmed persistent Lyme disease"

Spanky, did you notice that I gave this to Duncan, as an answer to him?
And that they used PCR in this study/summary we can read without have to pay anything.

Point was that you might want to be a bit wary, skeptical, of the informational value of articles where you have to pay to gain access.
Wasn't the point, there, Einstein.Spanky, did you notice that I gave this to Duncan, as an answer to him?
